Kindle Vs Kindle 2

Kindle 2 blows the original out of the water

Amazon released their Kindle 2 in early 2010 to great reviews. With the appearance of Barnes and Noble on the seen with the Nook, Amazon had to up their game and they most certainly did with the Kindle 2. In the simplest terms, the Kindle 2 is a smaller, faster, better version of the Amazon eReader.

The device comes in slim packaging and features some great hardware improvements over the original Amazon Kindle. The new device is significantly thinner than the original version and features a revamped keyboard that is much more natural. As a starting point, the hardware improvements are a huge boost for the device. In fact, when you look at them side-by-side, you almost have to wonder why they didn't design it this way in the first place. The original looks like it was just thrown together compared to the newer one.

The new version also features quick lookups, allowing you to find the definitions of words simply by hovering over them. When you see the screens side by side, it is also obvious how much they improved the display. The screens look much clearer, with great clarity on the screen.

In all, the Kindle 2 shows that Amazon has learned a lot about user interfaces since their first effort. The new version is easier to use, better looking, and significantly lighter. The video below breaks down the features of the two devices, though it runs a bit slow. Definitely skip the first two minutes in order to get the most information.
